The NJFCC welcomes film critics and journalists who are based in New Jersey and actively contribute to the field of film criticism. Membership is open to individuals who publish regular reviews or commentary on film through established platforms, including print, digital media, podcasts, or video. We value a diverse range of voices and encourage critics from all backgrounds and experience levels to apply.

To be considered for membership, applicants must demonstrate a consistent commitment to film criticism and provide samples of their work.

Many critics groups have restrictions for who can apply based on review cadence and viewership. Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and amplify voices that deserve to be heard. If you’re seeing at least 100 new movies every year, we want to hear from you regardless of how many reviews you’re publishing or how big your audience is. If you don’t live in New Jersey but frequently attend film screenings here, you’re still welcome to apply.
